Matrimony

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” - Matthew 19:5

The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.

Couples are asked to contact a priest soon after becoming engaged, but at least six months before the desired wedding date. Marriage preparation includes a pastoral prenuptial investigation, completion of an approved marriage preparation program as well as planning the wedding liturgy. The engaged couple must be practicing Catholics, or if only one individual is Catholic, that person must be a practicing Catholic, preferably a registered member of our Parish community. Please contact the pastor very soon after your engagement in order to begin the process and reserve the date. Contact: Fr. Jan Antonik ~ (239) 567-2315 x 102

Those previously married are not able to marry in the Catholic Church without a Declaration of Nullity or Annulment Decree from a diocesan tribunal. No wedding dates can be set unless all of the above requirements have been completed. Please contact the pastor to discuss these issues if they apply. Contact: Fr. Jan Antonik ~ (239) 567-2315 x 102
